Spelling Methods
RPM
Rapid Prompting Method (RPM), was developed by a parent of a child with autism in order to teach communication through a system of quickly delivered prompts, meant to match the rate at which a student might engage in stereotypic behaviors.
Spelling to communicate
Spelling to Communicate (S2C™) empowers nonspeakers to overcome communication barriers posed by traditional oral communication by pointing to letters on a board as an alternative means of communication. This innovative method promotes synchrony between cognitive and motor systems.
Facilitated communication
Facilitated communication is based on the idea that autistic people want to communicate. Movement difficulties stop them from being able to speak or independently use tools like typewriters or storyboards to communicate. When their arms are supported, they can use these tools.
sPELLERS mETHOD
The Spellers Method™ is a multidisciplinary approach taught to practitioners seeking to deepen their capacity to help nonspeakers. It is an educational model, curriculum and mentorship program used to provide individualized support across a variety of sensory-motor profiles of students who spell or type to communicate.
